PETOSKEY – March 15, 2022 – St. Michael High School (SMHS), Northern Michigan’s only Classical Catholic high school, is pleased to announce the kick-off event of its 2022 Speaker Series: an evening with Catholic author, speaker, and priest, Fr. Dwight Longenecker!

Fr. Longenecker will present “Classical Education in an Atheistic Age” – Thursday, March 17, at 6:30pm at the schoolhouse.

This event is free and open to the public.  Freewill offerings to the school are always appreciated.

Raised as an Evangelical Christian in Pennsylvania, Fr. Longenecker graduated from Bob Jones University, then went on to study theology at Oxford University, and was eventually ordained as an Anglican priest.  Realizing that the Anglican Church and he were on divergent paths, he and his family were received into the Catholic Church in 1995, becoming an ordained Catholic priest a decade later.

Fr. Longenecker is a prolific writer, with more than twenty books to his credit including his latest, “Beheading Hydra – A Radical Plan for Christians in an Atheistic Age”.  He is a Senior Contributor at The Imaginative Conservative and is regularly featured in several other magazines, papers, and journals.  He serves as Pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Greenville, South Carolina.
