St. Michael Teams Both Take Third at Regional; Gents 4x800 Places Fourth at State Finals
Our Track & Field teams both placed third (of 15 schools) at the D-4 Regional this spring – the highest Regional finish ever for the Ladies team and the best for the Gents since 2021.
The Gents tallied 91 points to reach third, led by first-place finishes from the 4×800 relay (Atticus Cadarette, Caleb Chamberlin, Cole Wesley, Cody Bradley) and John Sagan in the Shot Put – and State-qualifying runner-up finishes from Cadarette in the 400, Bradley in 3200, the 4×400 relay (Chamberlin, Wesley, Bradley – and Cooper Feagan), and Sagan in Discus. At the State Finals, the 4×800 relay placed fourth – it’s fifth podium finish in the last six years.
The Ladies scored 78 points to attain third, far more improbably as the team had just six competitors, just one relay, and no field events! The Guardians were led by Veronica Paga and Mea Wesley who both stacked up points like cordwood. Paga won the 400, 800, and was runner-up in the 3200, while Wesley won the 1600, was runner-up in the 800, and 4th in the 3200. The duo combined with Sofia Cadarette and Helena Ramsey to win the 4×800 relay.

St. Michael Teams Place 11th and 12th at 2025 T&F State Finals!
Our Track & Field teams placed 11th & 12th at the D-4 State Finals last spring, led by Seniors Jane Manthei & Russell Vandermus, both of whom performed valiantly and brilliantly in their final high school track meets!
Jane anchored the 4th-place 4×800 relay, then placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the two-mile, lifting the ladies team to its best-ever finish at the State Finals. Meanwhile, Russell anchored the 6th-place 4×800 relay and unleashed a stunning runner-up performance in the 800, helping the gents team to its best finish in three years.
St. Michael Boys Finish 8th at 2022 T&F State Finals!
The St. Michael Track & Field program had another excellent season in 2022!
At the State Finals, our Boys team finished eighth, thanks to an extraordinary 4-podium performance from senior Sam Paga! The day began with the 4×800 relay (Mac Moore, Zach Maendel, Russell Vandermus, Sam Paga) placing fourth and was followed by fourth, second, and fifth place finishes for Paga in the 1600, 800, and 3200 meter runs, respectively. Maendel and Moore also qualified in individual events and our Ladies team made its State Finals debut by qualifying its 4×800 relay (Emma O’Neil, Sydney Feagan, Jane Manthei, Anna Zielinski) as Regional Champs!
St. Michael Boys 4x800 Relay... 2021 State Champs!
The St. Michael Track & Field program had a spectacular 2021 season!
At the State Finals, our Boys team won the school’s first-ever State Championship with a 4x800m relay win, and placing 11th in the State overall as a full team! Our Gents team almost pulled a major upset at its Regional, placing second to Johannesburg-Lewiston, 131-125. Our Girls team completed its excellent inaugural season with a 9th place Regional finish – and our Junior High Track Club competed for the first time as well!
