PETOSKEY – December 30, 2024 – St. Michael High School (SMHS), the only classical high school in Northern Michigan, is pleased to announce that its choir will perform its Christmastide Concert, next Thursday, January 9, at 7:00pm at St. Francis Xavier Church, 513 Howard St., downtown Petoskey. The event is free and open to the public.
“We invite you to our Christmastide Concert, a celebration of the Incarnation of our savior Jesus Christ, with scripture and song,” stated SMHS Director of Vocal Music Ms. Marti Krusell. “We’ll cover works from antiquity through the present day, guided by a variety of composers including Gustav Holst, Pietro Yon, John Rutter and Adolphe Adam.”
“In the words of the Chesterton Schools Network, the central truth of the Incarnation, God becoming Man, is the central truth of the Chesterton education,” added SMHS Headmaster Mr. Kevin Weed. “Christmas season is a particularly special time for us at St. Michael, as it brings even sharper focus to our reason for being.”
Mr. Weed continued, “Our curriculum emphasizes the arts – instilling deep appreciation of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, while also cultivating the ability and confidence to stand up and perform. Our choral program is superb and we invite you to enjoy their excellent work with us on Thursday evening!”
