St. Michael Celebrates an Excellent Start to Its School Year, Announces Fundraising Campaign

PETOSKEY – December 20, 2022 – St. Michael High School (SMHS), Northern Michigan’s only Classical Catholic high school, is pleased to announce an excellent start to its 2022-23 school year and the launch of its annual year-end fundraising campaign.

SMHS Headmaster Mr. Andrew Moe stated, “Our faithful perseverance through adversity and uncertainty is being rewarded.  Our school is growing, our phone is ringing, and our financial house is in order.  Our thanks are first to the Lord, who guides and strengthens us, and then to our benefactors, without whose generosity we wouldn’t exist.  I humbly ask for your continued support as, together, we build our school.”

Mr. Moe continued, “Others to whom we owe our existence and current success are our dedicated faculty and staff.  I’d like to publicly wish a warm, if belated, welcome to our newest team members, Ms. Clare Kavanaugh and Mr. Ian Provoast!”

Ms. Kavanaugh joins the SMHS faculty as a full-time Mathematics and Science teacher.  She is a graduate of Fontbonne University of St. Louis, where she majored in Biology while serving as a peer tutor, a campus ministry leader, and as President of Students for Life.

Mr. Provoast joins the SMHS faculty as a full-time History teacher.  He has a Bachelors degree in History from Michigan Technological University and a Masters degree in History from Western Michigan University, where he also served as a teaching assistant.  He is also Head Coach of the SMHS Boys Basketball team.

Mr. Moe concluded, “I’m perpetually amazed at what we offer our students: the True, the Good, and the Beautiful, the best of the Catholic and Western intellectual traditions, cultivation of character and life of prayer.  St. Michael families, teachers, and benefactors make this possible month after month, year after year.  If you haven’t done so yet, please prayerfully consider supporting our work!  We wish you a blessed Adventtide and Christmas Season!”
